Responsibilities

Duties

  • Provides nursing care to patients in the inpatient setting with a variety of medical conditions, performing tasks such as recording vital signs, monitoring patient conditions, and reporting significant findings to the supervising nurse or physician.
  • Medication Administration and Observation. Administers prescribed medications with increased independence, ensuring proper patient dosages, routes, and times are followed.
  • Assists in performing and managing medical procedures, such as wound care, catheterizations, and respiratory therapies, under the guidance of a registered nurse or licensed medical practitioner
  • Provides patient and family education tailored to specific medical conditions, treatment plans, and recovery goals.
  • Assists patients with mobility, hygiene, and nutritional needs to promote comfort and recovery.
  • Assist the physician with various examinations and diagnostic procedures.

No person appointed pending licensure may be retained beyond the probationary period if licensure has not been attained.In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirement listed below:Experience: One year of nursing experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures, performing duties such as assisting professional health care providers with minor medical procedures; providing individualized nursing care; and administering oral medication and immunizations within an outpatient setting. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-04).
