DESCRIPTION: The  Nurse Practitioner has special knowledge and skills in health maintenance, disease prevention, psychosocial physical assessment and management of health-illness needs in the specialty listed or primary care of the family. EDUCATION: Must be a graduate of an accredited program of nursing. Must have successfully completed additional theoretical and clinical education through an accredited graduate level family nurse practitioner program.   REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE): Must maintain current Oklahoma licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and as an advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP). Must maintain current certification as a family nurse practitioner through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Prior experience working as part of a hospitalist team required.     PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as a family nurse practitioner is preferred but not required.

Must be comfortable staging pressure injuries according to the NPIAP Must be familiar with wound care best practice and advanced wound care products; collagens, alginates, foams, silvers, etc. Must have experience with wound vacs and other DME, such as pressure relieving/ reducing devices Strong preference to having wound certification or be open to getting certified Experience working in a long-term care setting. Overview POSITION SUMMARY Ideally a candidate with wound care background or surgery background but open to training a candidate Will see approximately 12-18 patients a day Perform comprehensive inpatient assessments of patients with acute and chronic wounds, ostomies, and incontinence Develop and implement evidence-based wound care treatment plans, including ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, medications, dressings, and devices Provide wound debridement, negative pressure wound therapy, biopsies, and other procedures as indicated Monitor and evaluate patient progress and response to treatment Educate patients, families, and caregivers on wound prevention, management, and self-care Document patient encounters and interventions in the electronic medical record Communicate effectively with other members of the health care team Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities Hyperbaric chamber experience preferred, training is available if needed.
