Looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)? This contract assignment in a dynamic school environment offers an engaging, hands-on role supporting learners with complex medical needs. Working part-time during the extended school year (ESY), you'll provide essential 1:1 care to medically fragile students in an itinerant capacity, rotating between students and campuses to ensure comprehensive coverage and support.
Key Qualifications:
- Current LVN or LPN license with experience in pediatric or school-based healthcare
- Comfortable caring for students with seizure disorders, diabetes (including CGM and carb counting), gastronomy and bladder needs, and those requiring medication administration
- Understanding of ASD and developmental delays; able to provide care for students aged 422 years
- Skilled in assisting during both hypo- and hyperglycemic events
- Capable of maintaining and reviewing health care plans and seizure protocols
- Bilingual Spanish skills a plus, though not required
- Previous experience delivering staff training and educating non-clinical personnel on care procedures is valuable
Responsibilities:
- Rotate across student locations, supporting individual students with direct medical care
- Review and update seizure and health plans to ensure appropriate protocols are in place
- Train and educate staff on medical procedures and emergency response
- Serve as a point of contact for parents, building strong lines of communication and familiarity with each students medical profile
- Remain on-call for urgent health needs during assigned hours
- Administer routine and emergency medications including EpiPen, Benadryl, and insulin
