This rewarding part-time contract role involves working directly with medically fragile learners ages 4 to 22, offering both skilled nursing care and valuable training to those around them.
Key Qualifications:
- Active LPN/LVN license with experience in pediatric, school-based, or special needs settings
- Skilled in supporting students with diverse and complex health conditions, including diabetes management (CGM/carb counting), gastronomy, bladder catheterization, seizure plans, and developmental delays
- Proficient administering medications (e.g., insulin, EpiPen, Benadryl) and monitoring for hypo/hyperglycemia
- Strong oral and written communication skills; bilingual Spanish abilities a plus
- Ability to rotate between multiple campuses in an itinerant, 1:1 capacity
- Experience collaborating with families, educators, and other health professionals
Responsibilities:
- Review, update, and implement individualized health and seizure plans
- Train school staff on procedures and emergency responses for medically fragile students
- Develop rapport with students and their parents to ensure continuity of care
- Be on call during school hours for any urgent health needs or crises
- Provide direct nursing care and health support throughout the day
