Healthcare Part-time

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The primary purpose of this position is to assist with medication administration in the facility. Such assistance must be in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained.

Up to $20.00/hour

ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES

 

1.       Supports and participates in developing a cohesive care team by leading, motivating and supporting staff in daily operation.

2.       Supports a positive and professional image through leadership activities that emulate the organization’s mission statement and encourages a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.

3.       Participates in determining the staffing needs. Ensures that a sufficient number of concierge personnel and/or LPN’s/Medication Aides are available for each shift to ensure that quality of care is maintained. Communicates staffing needs to supervisor.

4.       Participates in the recruitment, interview, hire and training of care service personnel.

5.       Supervises and directs subordinate employees in their work, in the interest of the employer, using independent judgment and discretion, regarding resident care and nonresident care duties.  Ensures personnel follow the state/federal regulations and Lantern policies and procedures.

6.       Coordinates and supervises nurse/medication aid and concierge assignments, daily tasks and special duties (i.e. passing nourishments, dining room assignments, etc.)

7.       Reports absentee call-ins per facility policy.

8.       Completes routine rounds during shift to assess residents and to determine if nursing needs are being met in accordance with the resident’s request/service plan and ensure care service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with current acceptable nursing standards.

9.       Implements, coordinates and supervises compliance with Resident Rights including the interdisciplinary team process.

10.   Reviews change of condition report daily and supervises/coordinates nursing services and care plan interventions.

11.   Reviews resident medical records regularly to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures.  Completes any  necessary assessments per facility policy.

12.   Conduct review of nurses’ documentation as directed to ensure that they are informative and descriptive of the nursing care being provided, that they reflect the resident’s response to the care, and that such care if provided in accordance with the resident’s wishes/service plan and within state/federal standards.

13.   Participates in the development of a written plan of care (preliminary and comprehensive) for each resident that identifies the problems/needs of the resident, indicates the care to be given, goals to be accomplished and which resident service plans for appropriate resident goals, problems, approaches, and revisions based on nursing needs.

14.   Ensures that all personnel involved in providing care to the resident are aware of the resident’s service plan prior to administering daily care to the resident.

15.   Ensures corrective action has been completed on medical record audits and consultant reports.

16.   Ensures that all LPN’s/medication aides comply with written procedures for the administration, storage and control of medications and supplies.

17.   Ensures medication pass, treatment schedule and corresponding documentation completed to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and policies.

18.   Participates in the selection of residents appropriate for admission to the facility.

19.   Participates in admission, transfer, and discharge of residents.

20.   Makes rounds with physicians as necessary.

21.   Consults with the resident, his/her family/POA/Guardian, and the resident’s physician in planning the care, treatment, rehabilitation, etc., as necessary.

22.   Provides care support on the floor and direct care as necessary.

23.   Inspects the nursing service treatment areas daily to ensure that they are maintained in a clean and safe manner.

24.   May serve as House Supervisor and/or on-call Nurse Supervisor.

25.   Assists in developing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the residents’ total regimen of care.

26.   Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.

27.   Maintains and implements department policies and procedures; ensures staff compliance.

28.   Participates in the facility Quality Assurance and CQI process.  Serves on committees and develops/implements improvement.

29.   Reviews complaints/grievances in department and makes recommendations for improvement.  Seek approval from DON and/or Director of Care and Operations prior to implementation.

30.   Ensure communication of recommendations to staff.

31.   Attends mandatory in-services and facility/department meetings as required.

32.   Ensures that all OSHA and safety standards are followed, as applicable to the position and in the business location or workplace in accordance with state and federal regulation and Lantern Policies and Procedures.

33.   Maintains safe and clean work area and adheres to location/company safety standards for the healthcare professional.

34.   Complies with all Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional in accordance with state and federal regulation and Lantern Policies and Procedures.

35.   Adheres to location protocols and department/company policy and procedures.

36.   Adheres to established HIPAA confidentiality standards or patient/resident location information.

37.   Performs all other tasks or duties as assigned.

 

 

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.       Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including but not limited to those within the ODH/ODA Compliance Process, Code of Conduct and HIPAA.

2.       Participates in required orientation and training programs.

3.       Maintains current license in compliance with Ohio Board of Nursing.

4.       Reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance.

5.       Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations

6.       Participates, as requested in process improvement responsibilities.

Professional Experience/Educational Requirements

 

1.       Progressive clinical management/administrative experience – long-term care experience preferred.

2.       Licensed Nurse, Registered Nurse.

 

Certification/Licensure

 

1.       Active MA-C  license in state of employment.
