Job Summary

The Med/Surg & SCU Manager is responsible for the overall administration of the Med/Surg and Special Care Unit at Pomerene Hospital. Duties include managing the day-to-day operations as well as developing, monitoring and maintaining standards and practices that enhance patient care and meet regulatory requirements. Additionally, the Med/Surg & SCU Manager is responsible for overseeing the HR function, quality initiatives, fiscal management and performance management of the units.

Essential Functions

  • Moves throughout the facility as needed, appropriately assists in emergency drills and situations, and demonstrates the physical, clinical, and professional capacity to lead the unit as described in the tasks and duties of this position.
  • Formulates and executes a strategic business plan for the unit, communicates the plan to the unit, and analyzes the plan to identify gaps and adjust.
  • Responsible for patient care and overseeing patient care activities for Med/Surg and SCU.
  • Acts as a liaison with other departments, leaders, and physicians to ensure optimal care is provided.
  • Maintains high standards for professional nursing practice as shown through professional development and leading by example.
  • Performs all leadership tasks and duties of this position according to hospital and unit policy and procedure.
