Responsibilities The certified nurse midwife (CNM) is an advanced practice nurse who is responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum, and newborn patients. The CNM performs physical exams, collects and documents data, manages labor and spontaneous delivery, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, and prescribes appropriate interventions and medications. Qualifications MSN Required Three (3) years of nursing experience Must have current or unrestricted licensure in the state of Georgia as an advanced practice nurse. Current certification by the American College of Nurse Midwives. PREFERRED: Knowledge of professional nursing theory, clinical practice standards, normal maternal / fetal growth and development, and requirements of nurse midwifery practice. Able to independently seek out resources and solve complex problems. Able to communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership, and others. Able to use sensory and cognitive functions to process and prioritize information, perform health assessments, treatment, and follow-up. Able to use fine motor skills. Able to record activities, document assessments & interventions; prepare reports and presentations. Able to use computer and learn new software programs. Able to provide leadership in clinical area of expertise and in meeting organizational goals Able to withstand prolonged standing and walking with the ability to move or lift at least fifty pounds. Able to remain focused and organized Work Hours: 8:30AM-8:30PM Weekend Requirements: Yes- Rotating Basis

Overview Documentation of experience as defind by the CNM Allied Health Credentialing policy to include the care of a normal laboring patient and recognition of deviations from normal which require supervising physician consultation and/or management. Responsible for providing evidence of back-up supervision by an obstetrician fully credentialed at Parkview. Responsibilities CNM will attend Association of Women's Health Onstetric and Neonatal Nurses advanced fetal monitoring training every two years. The CNM will be credentialed through Medical staff, initial and on-going. Additionally the CNMs ar erequired to have experience and provide evidence that they have assisted in a minimum of 25 cesarian section surgical procedures prior to performing the role. CNMs must perform the first assistant role at minimum 10 times per year. Qualifications Must have current and valid California State RN license. Must have currentlicense to practice as a CNM in the State of CA. Advanced Fetal Monitoring.
