DESCRIPTION: This position is the District Float Nurse, who works in all four buildings in the district. All schools are connected and on one campus, so no travel is required. The Float Nurse will assist in offices as needed and provide daily coverage for the building nurses' lunches. The successful candidate will be
flexible, adaptable, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills. This is a ten-month position (September - June) with all school breaks and holidays off. See attached Civil Service Job Description.
The District Float Nurse will:
  • Implement all health and safety protocols
  • Provide necessary medical treatment to students and staff
  • Maintain student medical records and assist with sports physicals
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the district's nursing team
  • Communicate in a positive and friendly manner with parents, students, staff, colleagues, and administrators
  • Other duties as assigned by building and district administrators
COMPENSATION: $51,075 annual salary, additional pay for degrees earned

Summary: The Registered Professional Nurse will provide primary health and emergency care to students and staff. The nurses at SMSD serve as a resource for wellness and health concerns in the school setting. Primary Responsibilities: Uses the nursing process to assess the health needs of students and staff.
