Minimum Job Requirements

Job Overview

The APRN II is a nurse prepared with graduate level nursing education and authorized to practice and prescribe as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Certified Nurse Practitioner in collaboration with one or more physicians or podiatrists. Advanced clinical practice in nursing includes the following components: assessment of patient health status, diagnostic testing, diagnoses, development of treatment plans, implementation of treatment plans, follow-up and evaluation of the patient’s response to treatment, accurate documentation of the patient’s status, and patient advocacy. APRNs are clinical experts who design, implement and evaluate patient-specific and population-based programs of care and promote care through a variety of methods. APRNs function at all levels of the healthcare system within three sphere of influence: client, personnel, and organization. APRNs must have a collaborating physician(s) in an associated Standard Care Arrangement. Job Responsibilities

Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, patients, and families to diagnose, prioritize problems, implement interventions, and coordinate referrals while promoting teamwide collaboration.

Participates in healthcare decision‑making at system, local, state, and national levels to improve patient outcomes, and serves in leadership roles on committees, councils, and administrative teams.
Utilizes, participates in, and disseminates research, EBP, and quality‑improvement projects; evaluates current practice based on research; and mentors nurses through activities such as Journal Club and appraisal of clinical literature.
Provides education to patients, families, nurses, students, and other healthcare professionals; mentors and precepts staff; promotes nursing research and EBP; and collaborates in assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational needs.

We’re looking for a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Physician Assistant (PA) to join our behavioral health team. In this role, you'll work alongside physicians to deliver direct care to patients with serious and persistent mental illnesses. You’ll assess, diagnose, treat, and educate patients, helping them manage both their mental and physical health. What You’ll Do: Provide high-quality care to individuals with behavioral health needs Take health histories, perform psychiatric and physical exams, and develop care plans Prescribe medications in line with Missouri regulations and supervising physician guidelines Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals Ensure accurate documentation of all patient interactions and care provided Support ongoing improvements in care quality, efficiency, and patient safety Act as a friendly and respectful representative of our team to patients and families Stay up to date on industry standards, best practices, and compliance requirements Minimum Qualifications: A degree from an accredited PA program Completion of a 1-year Psychiatry PA residency (or equivalent experience) National PA Certification (NCCPA) Psychiatry specialty certification Missouri PA licensure A passion for continuous learning and professional development ____________________________________________________________________________ As an APRN , you’ll deliver expert, compassionate care to individuals with serious and persistent mental illnesses. Working closely with physicians and a collaborative care team, you’ll assess patients, diagnose conditions, create treatment plans, and provide both physical and psychiatric care. This role also includes occasional on-call duties and coverage beyond your primary area when needed. You’ll bring advanced skills in mental health, health promotion, patient education, and medical management—making a meaningful impact every day. Qualifications & Skills Master’s in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program Active RN license in Missouri and Nurse Practitioner certification Specialty certification (as required by Missouri Board of Nursing) Active Collaborative Practice Agreement Current BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification 3–5 years of clinical experience (preferably in mental health or primary care) Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills Leadership ability and team-oriented mindset Excellent communication skills across diverse populations Commitment to working with individuals experiencing serious mental illness Ability to manage challenging patient behavior with empathy and professionalism Aligned with TMC’s mission and values
