Registered Nurse School Setting - Lowell, MA

Make a meaningful difference in the life of a student and support their educational journey in this specialized contract role based near Lowell, MA. This position offers the unique opportunity to serve as a 1:1 Registered Nurse, working closely with a medically fragile, non-verbal, wheelchair-dependent student during their school year and extended school year (ESY) sessions.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active and unrestricted Massachusetts Registered Nurse license required
  • Prior experience in pediatric, school, or 1:1 nursing roles strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor seizure activity, maintain airway patency, and respond to emergencies
  • Proficiency with medical equipment, including oxygen and heart rate monitors, suction devices, and emergency medications
  • Meticulous documentation and communication skills
  • Compassion, patience, and adaptability in high-responsibility environments

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe, continuous care for a student during daily bus transportation from Medford to the Chestnut Hill Campus School (morning and afternoon routes)
  • Conduct thorough clinical assessments and monitor the students comfort, airway, and seizure activity throughout transport
  • Maintain and operate equipment such as oxygen tanks, saturation monitors, suction machines, and administer emergency anticonvulsants if needed
  • Communicate regularly with the students classroom nurse, parent, and district health supervisor
  • Complete detailed nursing assessments and intervention documentation for each trip

This contract position covers the Extended School Year from July 12th to August 6th, then resumes with the academic year from August 31st through June 21st. Work schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm.
