Youll provide essential medical care to a medically fragile, non-verbal, wheelchair-dependent student. The primary duty involves accompanying the student during bus transport between Medford and a specialized campus, ensuring safety and immediate response to medical needs, while fostering a supportive environment.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Prior experience in school nursing or 1:1 pediatric care highly preferred
  • Proficiency in clinical skills: airway monitoring, seizure management, use of suction equipment, and oxygen therapy
  • Comfortable working with wheelchair-bound and non-verbal students
  • Strong documentation abilities and knowledge of care coordination
  • Effective communicator, able to collaborate with parents, school healthcare staff, and supervisors

Core Responsibilities:

  • Accompany student on daily bus route, conducting clinical assessments and responding to medical needs during transportation
  • Oversee and document students health status, monitoring vital signs with specialized equipment
  • Maintain airway patency, administer emergency seizure and respiratory interventions as prescribed
  • Communicate regularly with educators, classroom nurse, parents, and health services to ensure a seamless care plan
  • Ensure student comfort and safety at all times

Schedule:

  • 4 days/week (TuesdayFriday), 7:30 am4:00 pm
  • Extended School Year: 7/128/6; School Year: 8/316/21
