Job SummaryProvides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises. Responsibilities 
  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam 
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing 
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
  • Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QualificationsAssociates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Works under the supervision of the physician, Office Manager, RN, and LPN. The certified medical assistant performs a wide range of clinical duties including assisting the physician in providing quality care in a medical office setting. Overview The Lead Medical Assistant (Lead MA) in the Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery Division provides advanced clinical and administrative support while serving as a leader and resource for medical assistant staff. Responsibilities Leadership, Training, and Operational Oversight – 35% Participate in the implementation of Department and EVMS Medical Group policies and procedures. Overview Full time position for an advanced medical assistant, providing outpatient care for our patients and assisting our physicians in all clinical areas of the practice. Responsible for front and back office procedures. Also assists Physicians and Nurses with medical examination of patients. This position is located at our Princess Anne Office in Virginia Beach. Responsibilities Train and orient new medical assistants. QA Review of patient charts obtaining all pertinent documentation for return and postpartum patients. Updating patient prenatal lab forms for all follow up patients. Schedule outside patient referrals. Maintain/order supplies for the clinic to include weekly checks for expired materials/medications and/or materials close to expiration. Takes vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure. May draw blood and give injections under the immediate supervision of a Physician or RN. Chaperones when appropriate and assists during certain minor surgeries and diagnostic procedures, such as Pap Smears.
