Make a meaningful impact by supporting a young learner as a school nurse on a contract assignment located near Elizabeth, NJ. In this important role, you'll provide direct 1:1 nursing care for a three-year-old student diagnosed with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD). The position is strictly onsite, running from June 1, 2026, to June 26, 2026, with an approximate work schedule of 35 hours per week (8 am to 3 pm). Your expertise in pediatric nursing will ensure the students comfort, safety, and health throughout their daily academic routine, including bus transit.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Active and unrestricted RN license required
  • Minimum of one year of hands-on pediatric nursing experience, especially with medically complex children
  • Proficiency in NG-tube care and feeding (not G-tube)
  • Strong ability to safely lift, transfer, and transport a non-ambulatory child (approximately 24 lbs)
  • Capable of overseeing care and safety protocols during bus rides
  • Comfortable working independently in a school environment and adapting to changing needs

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Deliver dedicated 1:1 nursing care and monitoring throughout the school day
  • Manage NG-tube feedings and any related medical interventions
  • Safely lift, reposition, and transport student as needed, ensuring well-being and dignity
  • Collaborate with school staff and transportation personnel to support the students needs during transit
  • Maintain clear and accurate health documentation
  • Effectively communicate with parents, educators, and other professionals involved in care
