West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences seek a Certified Nurse Midwife (ranks available: Instructor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Buckhannon, West Virginia.

Duties: Our midwives collaboratively practice with faculty OBGYN Specialists, Uro-Gynecologists, and MFM Specialists allowing complete care for midwifery patients. OB and Off-Service (Family Medicine, ER, and Anesthesia) resident teaching, in both clinical setting and lecture format are an important component of the job. Medical and nursing student teaching, as well as Advanced Practice Nurse preceptorship add to this challenging position.

Meet the Chair

Brian Casey, MD, ABOG-MFM, joined the WVU Medicine team in March 2024. Dr. Casey came with an extensive background in high-quality healthcare and a commitment to improving care for women in West Virginia and beyond.

Casey joined WVU Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he held numerous leadership roles, including the vice chair of Obstetrics, division director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, assistant program director of the MFM Fellowship, alternate principal investigator for the Eunice Kennedy-Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network, and interim director of the Obstetric Medical Complications Clinic.

Before his time in Alabama, Casey served as MFM division director, MFM fellowship director at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, principal investigator for the Dallas MFMU Network site, and chief of Obstetrics for Parkland Health and Hospital System in Texas. He also serves as an editor of Williams Obstetrics.

Casey completed his fellowship in MFM at UT Southwestern/Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas and his residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. He received his medical degree from the Temple University School of Medicine.

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for a Certified Nurse Midwife to join our OB/GYN team! The Certified Nurse Midwife will provide independent, comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care. The CNM will manage the labor including admissions, assessments of maternal/fetal status, and delivery. The CNM will evaluate and manage routine pregnancies and work with consulting OB/GYNs on high-risk patients. The Certified Nurse Midwofe will conduct well-woman examinations, family planning, and STD/HIV care. Major Job Duties & Responsibilities Demonstrates the communication by clearly conveying information and ideas through appropriate mechanisms in a way that engages people and helps them understand and retain the message. Demonstrates ability to make patients and their needs a primary focus of one’s actions; developing and sustaining productive patient relationships. Demonstrates safety by familiarizing him or herself with policies and procedures, practicing personal and patient and equipment safety consistently and reporting any and all safety hazards/unusual patient or administrative occurrences that may have effect on patient and/or staff’s wellbeing.
