An experienced Registered Nurse, who in addition to providing direct patient care as needed is accountable for facilitating an interdisciplinary approach to patient care, patient flow, staffing, resource utilization, and problem solving on a given shift. The Nursing Supervisor functions under the direction of the Sr. Director in collaboration with the Nurse Managers to create an environment conducive to maintaining established standards of practice. S/he functions within policies, practice guidelines and nursing standards of SMH in accordance with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act, CDC and OSHA standards, and any other applicable regulatory or accreditation agency.

PER DIEM position for off shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Clinical Nursing experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of Nursing Leadership experience preferred
  • Excellent quality of Nursing Care as part of a comprehensive care team

Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

  • Must meet all criteria associated with responsibilities detailed in this document and the core/unit specific competencies for registered nurses. 
  • Must provide timely, positive responses to the needs of all customers including patients, families, co-workers and physicians.

Educational Requirements:

  • BSN preferred
  • Successful completion of orientation including electronic documentation competencies

License/Certification:

  • Current Massachusetts RN licensure
  • Current BLS/ACLS certification
  • Unit-specific competencies/certifications (i.e. NRP, PALS, specialty certifications).

Age Specific Criteria:  Ability to effectively communicate to all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas.

Responsibilities Assist in supervising the medication program, activity in medication room and assisting the residents with self-administration of their medication. Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living and Independent with Activities of Daily Living as needed. Maintain positive relations with residents, families and physicians.
