About the Opportunity

Hawai‘i Pacific Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Women’s Centers’ Oncology team on the island of O‘ahu, who enjoys working with others and believe in warm, compassionate health care.

What You’ll Do:

· Have an integral role in management and follow-up care for patients that undergo breast biopsy, ensuring patients receive their results and appropriate referrals are initiated when needed

· Direct patient care that includes evaluation, treatment, and technical procedures to a specific group of patients

· Provide health education, referrals to other disciplines, and consultation with other allied health personnel

· Have oversight and care for patients identified as high-risk for the development of breast cancer by providing referrals to appropriate health care providers in collaboration with the patient’s primary care provider

Job Description The Division of Neuro-Oncology within the Department of Neurosurgery is a referral, recommendation, and treatment service for adult patients with primary and metastatic brain tumors. The Neuro-Oncology Service Clinical Trials Program is an active research program that includes studies supported by the Pharmaceutical Industry; investigator initiated studies, studies in collaboration with outside universities and NCI-cooperative groups; and SPORE grants for cancer research. The Division of Neuro-Oncology as a part of UCSF is committed to providing outstanding care to our patients, and includes clinicians with experience and expertise working with patients of diverse cultures and experiences. Led by Edward Chang, MD, Chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery and John De Groot, MD Director of the Division of Neuro-Oncology the program is staffed by a strong group of collegial faculty, with Medical, Nursing, Neuropsychological staff and Research staff contributing to a high-quality collaborative multidisciplinary team. To support the growth within our division, we are now seeking to recruit another advanced practice provider. The APP will provide pre-appointment screening, clinical assessment, treatment, and disposition for inpatients and outpatients patients with primary brain tumors. The APP works with the neuropsychologist/physicians/surgeons/AHP colleagues and other clinical and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient management based on accepted practice, including but not limited to, performing histories and physicals, performing quality of life assessments, responding to change in patient status, providing needed prescriptions/evaluations/referral/treatments as permitted under their standardized procedures. Home health services and DME, DMV evaluations, referrals, consultations, radiographic or diagnostic requests, specialized treatment privileges, providing patient education, arranging follow-up appointments, and engaging in any approved standardized procedures require that the AHP has OPPE/FPPE processes completed through the MSSO prior to independent patient care. The APP will also play a pivotal role in the development and dissemination of key programmatic resources. This will include the organization of community outreach efforts and patent educational materials, as well as participation in quality improvement symposia and executive leadership meetings. Equally important will be the APP’s role in promoting national recognition of the program through clinical oriented research and manuscript preparation at society meetings (SNO, ASCO, ASTRO). UCSF requires all Advanced Health Professionals (AHP) to be credentialed through the UCSF Medical Staff Office in order to practice and function in their clinical role. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures must be completed prior to the first working day. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing approved or verified school of nursing with a master’s degree in nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). Nurse Practitioner: - Minimum of two (2) years in a busy surgical specialty in a ambulatory setting. Preferred Qualifications: - Preferred Ambulatory OP experience and or In Patient experience in Neurosciences - Previous experience in Neuro-Oncology, Neurology Ambulatory Setting Licenses/Certifications: 1. California Registered Nurse (RN) License without restriction 2. California Nurse Practitioner (NP) License without restriction 3. California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number 4. NP national board certification from an accepted certifying agency aligned with the patient population and clinical role Adult Outpatient (A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC). 5. California Driver License (if required for position) 6. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address 7.
