Position Summary
Under the administrative direction of the ACNO or Director, the Hospital Operations Administrator (HOA) RN represents UI Health management staff by providing administrative direction and support to all departments and areas. The Nurse Administrator RN will report and document all violations of the rules, regulations and policies of UI Health. The Nurse Administrator RN exemplifies the UI Health mission, vision, values, and acts in accordance with UI Health policies and procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide quality supervision to all areas of nursing procedural care direction, problem solving and discipline. Develop effective clinical strategies to lead and support decision making and actions for procedural areas. May intervene and take immediate action when the supervisor and/or nursing leadership is unwilling or unable to do so.
Mentor and coach nursing staff and create an environment of professional growth by demonstrating proficient quality leadership skills at the nursing division level.
Initiate investigation of incidents that will result in quality liability exposure to UI Health and make notification to the department of Risk Management.
Deliver timely reports/communication to department directors regarding quality operational problems that occur within their respective departments. Work closely with all nursing procedural areas to resolve quality issues and concerns.
Locate and procure material and human resources that are necessary for the continuous quality operation of the UI Health.
Take whatever action is necessary to ensure quality patient care and the integrity of UI Health.
Assist department Executive/Senior Leadership in nursing quality departmental operations through engagement, flexibility, and project involvement.
Articulate standards and monitor compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act, State Board of Nursing Regulation, regulatory agency standards and the policies of the Hospital. Translate the nursing and corporate vision and strategic plan into measurable goals and sustainable nursing quality programs.
Utilize clinical information systems, to promote safety, quality and cost-effective care.
Other duties as assigned. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
