Essential Position Responsibilities Performs comprehensive patient assessments before, during, and after dialysis treatment, including review of vital signs, laboratory data, fluid status, vascular access, and overall clinical condition. Provides acute dialysis nursing care in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and standards of practice, using sound clinical judgment and safe nursing techniques. Initiates, monitors, and discontinues dialysis treatments while observing for patient tolerance, treatment effectiveness, and potential complications, and escalates concerns promptly to the appropriate provider. Maintains accurate, timely, and complete documentation of assessments, treatments, interventions, patient response, and communication with the care team. Collaborates with nephrologists, hospitalists, bedside staff, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, support treatment goals, and promote continuity of care. Assists with patient and family education related to dialysis treatment, plan of care, safety precautions, and follow-up needs appropriate to the patient’s condition. Supports a safe care environment through adherence to infection prevention practices, equipment safety standards, departmental procedures, and regulatory requirements. May assist with orientation of new staff, supervision of students, and cross-coverage or floating to other areas when qualified and competent to do so. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Licensure and Certifications: Valid Registered Nurse license and CPR certification, required. Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required, if applicable to assigned duties. Experience: Acute care nursing experience preferred. Dialysis experience is preferred but not required. New graduate nurses and experienced nurses may be considered based on department needs and training capacity.
