Responsibilities (RN - Registered Nurse): Direct and monitor the personal care duties and nursing care procedures carried out by Nursing Assistants of the assigned team. Assist Nursing Assistants with direct care of residents, as necessary. Report to RN Unit Manager/Assistant Unit Manager or Charge RN Supervisor unusual symptoms, changes of condition, daily needs, and progress of residents. Follow the Plan of Care for each resident, and monitor the performance of Nursing Assistants in implementation of the care plan. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is a professional nursing position involving responsibility for giving care to students and for performing related nursing services such as pupil health screening and notification of defects and communicable disease control requiring judgment and skills. This position differs from the certificated position of School Nurse-Teacher in that there is no responsibility for either classroom instruction or guidance involved. Job Knowledge and Role Responsibilities: 1. Demonstrates knowledge of age specific developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents (i.e. physical, cognitive, and socialization factors) in planning delivery of care. 2. Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to care for residents with the following needs: therapeutic, neuro and dementia, dialysis, IV therapy, infectious disease and wound care, if applicable. 3. Provides nursing care in accordance with Resident Care Policies and Procedures and ensures the safety and well-being of the residents is maintained. 4. Attends all mandatory inservices by employee’s anniversary date. 5. Maintains and updates New York State license in compliance with New York State regulations. 6. Acts appropriately under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, Head Nurse or Resident Care Coordinator and acts as an active member of the interdisciplinary team. 7. Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in units/shift assignments to meet resident and facility needs. SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS 1.
