JOB TITLE: RN, Charge Nurse PACU

REPORTS TO: OR Supervisor and Director, Surgical Services

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides supervision and leadership to assigned nursing care unit for the shift worked. Is accountable for all the nursing activities in assigned area which includes, but is not limited to, the effective delivery of safe, competent, compassionate and efficient care. Ensures nursing staff comply with the written policies and procedures established by VVGMC. Periodically reviews the department's policies, procedure manuals, etc. and makes recommendations for revisions. The Charge RN is the on the ground leader (front line person) who has the responsibility and capability to assess the day-to-day situations and initiate the actions needed to address issues at hand. This role has direct responsibilities that are both clinical and operational in nature. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other employees. A clinically competent RN vested with responsibility and control of all tasks associated with equitable, on-time delivery of the surgical schedule. Collaborates, integrates, and communicates to all team members providing optimal efficiency of daily operations. This employee will also function as a staff RN, relief RN for breaks and lunches, takes over for sick calls and absences and relief call if warranted. Performs all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing preferred. BSN preferred. A minimum of one year of nursing in experience in Surgery required.
