Registered Nurse School Setting in Hayward, CA

A dynamic contract opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse who will collaborate alongside two experienced LVNs. This role centers on delivering comprehensive nursing support across multiple elementary school sites.

In this position, your weekdays will be varied and engaging as you travel between campuses, ensuring the best care for students needing regular medical attention—including those with diabetes—and handling student incident reports. This role offers a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, and all travel between locations will be reimbursed at the IRS mileage rate.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
  • Experience in a school or pediatric setting strongly preferred
  • Reliable transportation required for traveling between sites
  • Confident with student health assessments, diabetic care, and medication administration
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine visits across assigned elementary school sites
  • Support and collaborate with onsite LVNs
  • Administer care to students as needed, including diabetic management
  • Document and respond to student incidents and health concerns
  • Maintain health records according to school policies
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and healthy environment for all students

The Hospice Registered Nurse is an experienced registered professional nurse who initiates and coordinates the hospice care plan plans, organizes, and directs hospice care and is experienced in nursing, with emphasis on community health education/experience. The professional nurse builds from the resources of the community to plan and direct services to meet the needs of individual and families within their homes and communities. Essential Job Responsibilities: The RN provides care to patients who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness. The Hospice RN regularly reviews and updates the plan of care. Performs prescribed medical treatments, including pain management and symptom control, conducts assessments and evaluations, provides education and supportive care to patient and family. Completes an initial, comprehensive, and ongoing assessments of patient and family to determine hospice needs. Provides a complete physical assessment and history of current and previous illness(es). Provides professional nursing care by utilizing all elements of nursing process. Assesses and evaluates patient’s status by: Writing and initiating plan of care, regularly re-evaluating patient and family/caregiver needs, participating in revising the plan of care as necessary. Uses health assessment data to determine nursing diagnosis. Develops a care plan that establishes goals, based on nursing diagnosis, and incorporates palliative nursing actions. Includes the patient and the family in the planning process. Initiates appropriate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician in the physician’s plan of care. Counsels the patient and family in meeting nursing and related needs. Assists the patient with the activities of daily living and facilitates the patient’s efforts toward self-sufficiency and optional comfort care.
