School Registered Nurse (RN) in Ballwin, MO

Make a direct impact in a child’s life by providing expert nursing support as a part-time 1:1 RN for a student during the afternoon session at an Early Childhood Center. This contract position is perfect for dedicated school nurses who thrive in individualized care environments and have a passion for pediatric health.

You will work closely with one student who requires specialized medical attention. The PM session runs from 12:05 to 3:15 PM, with drop-off occurring between 12:00 and 12:10. Your contract hours may also include supporting the student’s transportation route to and from school.

Student’s primary medical needs:

  • Epilepsy monitoring and management
  • Global developmental delays support
  • Management of hypotonia, including slow transit constipation and dysphagia (liquid thickening required)
  • Neuromuscular scoliosis oversight
  • Observation for intermittent esotropia
  • Familiarity with rare genetic variants, specifically in CNTNAP2

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in Missouri required
  • Previous experience in a school or pediatric setting preferred
  • Confidence in seizure management and emergency medication administration
  • Experience with feeding modifications, dysphagia care, and mobility assistance
  • Compassionate communication skills with children and school staff
  • Strong documentation and observational skills

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe and attentive nursing care during the Early Childhood Center’s PM session
  • Administer medications, carry out prescribed treatments, and respond to emergencies
  • Track and report student’s medical status
  • Collaborate with the educational team and the student’s family
  • Provide care and supervision during transportation to and from school, as needed
