Responsibilities
- Assesses and monitors total physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients of all ages.
- With guidance from/collaboration with other health team members, develops and maintains with the patient/significant other, an individualized, professional approach to patient care reflective of changing needs/goals as determined by evaluating the patient/significant other response.
- Provides nursing care in accordance with nursing standards.
- Assesses and plans for discharge needs, evaluates patients and significant others educational needs and initiates and implements appropriate teaching or makes appropriate referrals.
- Documents nursing care consistent with documentation guidelines.
- Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
Education:
- Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing required.
- Required to obtain 4 hours of annual stroke education.
- Bachelors in Nursing preferred.
- Current RN Licensure in state of Iowa or applicable compact state. Must be licensed in state of residence.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
- Completion of hospital-approved Critical Care course within 18 months of employment.
- ED or Critical Care experience preferred.
- One year of acute care nursing experience acceptable.
