Student Medical Needs

Student has a central line that requires monitoring during the school day but does not require line care
Student has a jejunostomy that collects output into an ostomy bag
Provide attentive monitoring and nursing support throughout the school day

Responsibilities

Provide dedicated 1:1 nursing care and monitoring
Monitor the student's central line and overall medical status
Monitor and manage the jejunostomy/ostomy bag as needed
Follow the student's individualized healthcare plan and physician orders
Respond appropriately to changes in the student's medical condition
Maintain accurate nursing documentation
Collaborate with school staff, family, and the student's healthcare team
Support the student's safe participation in the school environment

Qualifications

Active Connecticut RN license required
Pediatric or school nursing experience preferred
Experience with central lines, jejunostomies, or ostomy care is preferred
Strong clinical, communication, and observation skills
Ability to provide compassionate and attentive 1:1 care
