Responsibilities*

5B1 is a 32-bed medical/surgical unit that primarily includes patients admitted to the services of: (Medicine) Gastroenterology/Liver, Medicine Faculty Hospitalist/Renal and (Surgery) transplant, bariatric, colorectal, urology, orthopedic. Our interdisciplinary team provides care to patients and families across the adult life-span who are experiencing acute and chronic episodes of their illness.

5B, Internal Medicine unit, has been awarded the prestigious Academy of Medical Surgical Nursing Prism Award. 5B is one of two units in the state of Michigan to receive this honor! This award recognizes medical-surgical units for providing exemplary patient care and reflects the units commitment to patient safety, excellence in clinical care, teamwork, and shared leadership.

Required Qualifications*

Current Michigan RN license for all candidates that have passed the NCLEX.

Work Schedule

Shift/Hrs: 8 Hour Night shift; every other weekend

Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.

POSITION OVERVIEW The Registered Nurse (RN) is primarily responsible for providing direct, quality clinical care and serves as a Team Leader to patient care staff. Key Responsibilities Lead a team of direct care providers to ensure appropriate execution of medications and treatments, documentation, family teaching, care planning and patient care conferencing in compliance with the Health Campus Policies and Procedures. Utilize the nursing process in delivering patient care and ensure continuity of care from admission through discharge and return to family and community. Visit residents on assigned unit daily to observe and evaluate each resident’s physical and emotional status and notify the charge nurse, the physician, and/or the Director of Nursing when there is a change in a resident’s condition. Identify resident problems and emergency situations and initiate immediate lifesaving measures in the absence of a physician. Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc. as necessary. Required Skills: Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment required. Current BLS certification from a Vibra-approved vendor required.
