Registered Nurse School Setting in Plainfield, IL

A unique opportunity is available for a dedicated Registered Nurse with school nursing experience to support a vibrant middle school in the Plainfield, IL area. This contract position calls for a compassionate professional who excels independently, values collaboration, and is eager to advance their career in school nursing.

You’ll be the primary manager of the health office, conducting medical reviews, participating in IEP and 504 processes, and supporting students’ health needs throughout the school day. The role includes working closely with a supportive administrative team and requires comfort with technology, as all documentation is performed via electronic health records.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Illinois
• Willingness to obtain Short-Term Approval for School Nurse this year and commit to pursuing a PEL with School Nurse Endorsement within 1–2 years
• Comfortable taking initiative, working both independently and as part of a strong team
• Able to manage personal care support for students as needed
• Proficient in electronic health record systems and technology for IEP/504 management
• Reliable attendance and commitment through the school year are essential
• Previous CSN experience and/or Spanish language skills highly valued

Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversee management of the school health office
• Conduct and document medical reviews and assessments
• Support and assist students’ daily health and personal care needs
• Participate actively in IEP and 504 plan processes
• Collaborate closely with school staff and other nurses
• Foster a positive and flexible team-oriented environment
