Job Description Summary: 

Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistants must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions.

We’re Looking For: 

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

What You’ll Do:

As a Medical Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.   

As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:  

  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care.  
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.  
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.  
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed.  
  • Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.  
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record.  
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.  
  • Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.  
  • Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.  
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.  
  • Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.  
  • Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.  
  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.  
  • Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.  
  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required.  
  • Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday Compensation: $20-$24hr based on experience and qualifications Bilingual Requirement: English & Spanish Key Responsibilities: Greet, room, and assist patients upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming and positive patient experience. Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical histories, and other clinical information in the electronic medical record (EMR/EHR). Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, injections/vaccinations, specimen collection, and other duties within scope of training and certification. Accurately document patient interactions and clinical information using EMR/EHR systems. Deliver exceptional patient service while managing a high volume of patient interactions in a fast-paced clinical environment. Utilize EMR/EHR platforms such as Epic, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar systems. Support patient care within a healthcare setting, including physician offices, clinics, urgent care centers, pharmacies, hospitals, or home health environments. Leverage bilingual communication skills to support patient interactions when applicable. High School Diploma or equivalent, required. 1-2 years of hands-on clinical experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar direct patient care role (e.g., Medical Assistant externship, CNA, HHA, Nursing Assistant, or Patient Care Technician), required. Experience performing clinical duties such as vital signs, patient rooming, phlebotomy, EKGs, injections, and specimen collection, required. Completion of a Medical Assistant training program and/or current CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification preferred.
