A Brief Overview

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking a part time Urgent Care Nurse. This part time position is scheduled for 20 hours per week and includes a weekend rotation every three weeks. Holiday requirements include one summer holiday, one winter holiday eve, and one winter holiday day annually. This position requires flexibility to provide coverage at the King of Prussia and/or Bucks County Urgent Care locations based on clinical and operational needs.


Pediatric, urgent care, and/or emergency medicine experience is preferred.


The Urgent Care Nurse is a clinically competent practitioner of pediatric, family-centered nursing. The nurse at this level provides safe nursing care to the general unit population with minimal guidance and bases practice on identified principles and standards of care.

  • Manages care of complex patients utilizing proper prioritization and delegation to appropriate staff.
  • Identifies expected outcomes, revises plan of care when unexpected outcomes arise, and begins to use full range of communication as a means of conveying plan.
  • Documents ongoing evaluation and effectiveness of patient care utilizing current hospital standards, policies, and procedures.

Education Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma Nursing - Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing - Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year RN experience - Required
  • Pediatric experience - Preferred

Registered Nurse, Cardiac Stepdown Unit

A Brief Overview The Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) provides intermediate level care to patients with congenital and acquired heart disease as well as those with primary rhythm abnormalities. Patients include medical and surgical cardiac patients with an age range typically spanning newborns to young adults. These patients may include those with non-invasive ventilation, such as CPAP/BiPaP and stable trachs. Some patients require continuous inotropic infusions to support their heart function while others require mechanical support such as ventricular assist devices (VADs). As a unit dedicated to inter-professional collaboration and education, we strive to provide care to our patients and families while on the continuum of their inpatient stay within the Cardiac Center. This is a part-time, rotating shift position. The Clinical Nurse practices at the level of an advanced beginner to expert practitioner of professional nursing in accordance with, and guided by the CHOP Nursing Professional Practice Model. The nurse at this level demonstrates competence in caring for patients and families and progresses to caring for those with the most complex problems/highest acuity in the designated clinical area. Provides age/developmentally appropriate care. Care is delivered through RN leadership for patient care within the framework of family-centered care. The Clinical Nurse adheres to the organizational and nursing department mission, vision, and values. Clinical Nurses practice in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics; the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice; practice standards of applicable specialty nursing organizations; and CHOP developed standards of nursing practice. The professional nurse practices within the defined scope of practice designated by the Nurse Practice Acts of Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey, depending on the assigned work site. What you will do Clinical Practice Follows the nursing process to deliver safe, compassionate, and culturally effective care. Gathers and recognizes/synthesizes assessment data to determine the patient/family plan of care, pertinent data to be shared with care team, and tasks to be delegated. Collaborates with the patient, family and multidisciplinary team to coordinate all facets of patient care.
