The Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU) is a35-bed, single-room unit.The patients are typically here for observation or if needed to be admitted as an inpatient they will stay in CDU until a floor bed is available. Multidisciplinary rounds are done Monday – Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities. The Express Admit Unit (EXAU) is under the management of the CDU. There are 6-bed areas where the admitted patients stay until a floor bed is available. This gives them privacy and care while waiting for their room to be available. Both CDU and EXAU can have patients on telemetry for cardiac monitoring. Patients here can often be sent home following the procedure or are admitted to the hospital. This is based upon the procedure performed and the necessary recovery needed. If admitted the patient is transferred to the appropriate floor for continued recovery and discharge. The PACU sees infants to geriatrics. Here the patients are closely monitor while they are waking up from the anesthesia they received during the procedure. Depending on the procedure and the orders received from the physicians the patient will be discharged home or admitted to the hospital.
