White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) for our Labor & Delivery Unit who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As a CNM, you will:
• Manage the health care of women, focusing particularly on pregnancy, during the intrapartum and postpartum period, family planning and the gynecologic needs of women.
• Apply surgical skills and knowledge required to act as first assist in the Operating Room.
• Collaborates with physicians. support staff, and ancillary departments to provide quality patient care.
• Performs History and physical examination in a timely manner.
• Maintains role/specialty competencies as well as keeping current with changes in practice, i.e., new equipment, medications, treatment modalities.
• Actively participates in departmental peer review, staff meetings, in-service education and quality improvement processes.
• Demonstrate professionalism at all times and will uphold standards of practice with Adventist HealthCare Mission and Values.

Qualifications include:
• Graduate of an accredited Bachelor's of Science in Nursing program
• Valid Maryland RN license
• Current Certification as a Nurse Midwife from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• NPR certification
• Intermediate and advanced EFM certification or should obtain the Certification for Electronic Fetal Monitoring within 3 months of employment
• 2-3 years of current CNM experience
• Bilingual Spanish desired

Work Schedule:


  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Hours per Week: 36 hrs/week
  • Typical Daily Schedule: 6:45 pm-7:15 am (8, 12-hour shifts per week - Within the 4-week schedule cycle, employee is expected to work a minimum of three weekend shifts (1 Saturday, 1 Sunday and another weekend shift of your choice). Must also work 1 Monday and 1 Friday.)

Pay Range:

$50.80 - $76.20

Responsibilities: North Shore Associates in Gynecology and Obstetrics is expanding and seeking an additional full-time Certified Nurse Midwife ! About the Practice Currently, we are a group of six certified nurse midwives ( 5.25 FTE). Our practice is growing and we are seeking another midwife to join our group. Ideally, this would be a 1.0 FTE position. We see patients in two office locations (Wilmette and Glenview) and attend births at North Shore Hospital in Evanston. The hospital environment is very supportive and has had a strong midwifery presence for over thirty years. We are dedicated advocates of physiological birth for both low-risk and high-risk patients. We have a special focus on VBAC deliveries (success rate of 92% in 2022) and unmedicated birth (63% in 2022). We have a strong emphasis on promoting vaginal birth with an overall Cesarean Delivery Rate of 7% in 2022. We are typically awarded the ACNM Triple Aim Award based on benchmarking statistics every year. We have collaborative relationships with our physician colleagues. The ideal candidate will be a provider with a passion for advocating for patients, willing to provide the intense empathy and compassion and physical labor support that both the office setting and labor and delivery require.
