Step into a vital role supporting a bright 1st-grade student with complex medical needs in a caring school environment. This full-time, contract opportunity near Des Plaines, IL, focuses on providing personalized, one-on-one nursing care throughout the entire school dayincluding school transportation. You'll play a key part in ensuring both safety and access to learning for a student who requires consistent, compassionate medical support.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in Illinois
  • Experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing preferred
  • Proven proficiency in tracheostomy care, including ventilator and oxygen management
  • Ability to manage G-tube feeding and feeding pumps safely and efficiently
  • Comfort with respiratory and nutritional equipment such as suction machines, chest vests, pulse oximeters, nebulizers, and oxygen tanks/concentrators
  • Physical capability to accompany, monitor, and occasionally assist with mobility equipment including lifting or carrying a ventilator and managing oxygen tanks
  • Calm, attentive, and adaptable approach to working with children with medical and mobility needs

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing 1:1 nursing support to a 1st-grade student during all aspects of the school day and transportation
  • Managing airway and respiratory care (tracheostomy, ventilator, suction, oxygen)
  • Overseeing G-tube nutrition, equipment, and emergency supplies
  • Utilizing assistive technology and monitoring devices to ensure student well-being
  • Close supervision and support for ambulation and all transitions, including use of specialized mobility devices and adaptive equipment
