Tasks include taking vital signs, collecting specimens, handling and processing CLIA waived tests, assisting with procedures as requested and directed by Medical Providers and nurses, performing diagnostic procedures within scope and other procedures as ordered and supervised by Medical Providers, giving immunization shots and other Medical Assistant administrative functions. Education - High school diploma or equivalent. Proof of enrollment in a health career training or career and technical education program. Experience - One (1) year in healthcare setting with the geriatric population required. Experience with using electronic health record (EHR) preferred. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare patients for aesthetic consultations and cosmetic treatments Obtain and document medical history, medications, allergies, consent forms, and treatment notes in EMR systems Assist providers with cosmetic procedures including injectables, laser treatments, microneedling, chemical peels, facials, and other aesthetic services Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies for procedures Perform topical numbing application as directed by providers Take standardized patient photos and ensure accurate procedural documentation Educate patients on pre- and post-treatment care instructions and aftercare expectations Maintain cleanliness, sterilization, infection control, HIPAA, and OSHA standards throughout the clinic Assist with inventory management, ordering, and stocking of skincare products and medical supplies Professionally respond to patient calls, electronic correspondence, and scheduling inquiries Support front office operations including scheduling appointments, patient check-in/check-out, and administrative tasks as needed Deliver exceptional customer service while fostering a warm, professional, and welcoming patient experience Collaborate positively across all departments and contribute to overall team success Remain flexible and assist with additional responsibilities as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Current Certified Medical Assistant certification required (CMA, AAMA, RMA, or CCMA) Previous experience in aesthetics, cosmetics, plastic surgery, dermatology, or medical spa environments preferred Experience assisting with Botox, fillers, laser treatments, microneedling, or chemical peels preferred Experience charting in-room for providers preferred Knowledge of skincare products and aesthetic treatments is a plus Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred Professional appearance, positive attitude, and strong attention to detail required Passion for aesthetics, skincare, and patient care Social media or content creation experience is a plus PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: To ensure the safety and well-being of our employees, we have established the following physical requirements. The Medical Assistant Apprentice is a student in training (MA Trainee), mentored by a Fred Hutch Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) staff, in preparation to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) test through the National Healthcareer Association. The apprentice will work side-by-side with a preceptor and participate as a member of the team in the overall function of the clinic. Their primary responsibility will be to learn to manage the flow of patients for assigned providers (as applicable) each day. The apprentice will perform duties and procedures as they demonstrate competency at the direction of their preceptor and supervisor. The apprenticeship is designed to complete 2000 hours of training over a period of 1 year. The apprenticeship program is sponsored by the Washington Association of Community & Migrant Health Centers (WACMHC) and accredited through the South Seattle College (SSC). About the Transplant Clinic Our transplant clinic nursing and medical assistant teams provide specialized care for patients receiving assessment and treatment for blood and marrow transplant patients in three specialized areas: allogeneic, autologous and pediatric. Patients receiving care in the Transplant Clinic receive ongoing care over multiple months from a dedicated, multidisciplinary care team. This position is in the Bone and Marrow Transplant department located at Sloan Clinic in Seattle . This role requires that you work 8-hour shifts, variable start times between 0700 - 0945 with flexibility to work weekends and holidays. Responsibilities Patient flow: rooms patients and families into exam or procedure area Initial patient assessment: vital signs, pain assessment, fall risk Conducts clerical tasks, patient transport, cleaning and restocking of exam rooms and other duties assigned to maintain clinic flow Recognizes symptoms of common medical illnesses, abnormal vs. abnormal, new/existing pain and escalates appropriately to healthcare providers Customer services: acts as a liaison between patient/families and healthcare providers Procedure assistant: prepares for/sets up for procedures and aids healthcare provider Qualifications Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years Willingness to participate in the process improvement initiatives Proficient in email and word processing system Strong interpersonal and customer services skills Ability to work in a fast paced, complex healthcare environment Ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear and concise manner Ability to follow direction and guidance Ability to recognize limitations and seek help Ability to identify learning needs and plan learning opportunities Preferred: Active DOH registration as an MA-R or CNA Ability to appropriately respond to emergencies or disasters per clinic protocol and scope of practice Experience with Electronic Medical Records The hourly pay range for this position is from $27.01 to $38.45 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
