Properly uses equipment such as ice bags, ace bandages, and Abd binders as outlined on the HHa POC. Performs basic infection control techniques according to Covenant HomeCare policy; examples are proper Bag Technique, hand washing, glove usage, appropriate handling and disposing of wastes or un-sterile compresses, and keeping dirty and clean items separate. Attends to nutritional needs of patient, which may include preparing meals and feeding patients. Performs range of motion exercises where appropriate under supervision of Physical Therapy. Checks schedule and calls patients to provide patients with arrival times. Reports any changes observed in condition or behavior of patients and unusual incidents to licensed staff. Assists in orienting new employees. Demonstrates knowledge and competency in providing for age-specified needs of the population served. Demonstrates ability to perform skills on annual skills checklist. Completes and submits patient visit documentation. Assists with medications that are ordinarily self-administered (including topical) as outlined on the HHA POC. Local travel required. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum Experience: Six (6) months hospital or related experience. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $24.01 – $36.01. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. Job Summary Assists professional nursing personnel in providing quality, compassionate patient care by performing tasks involving direct and indirect patient care, using skills and knowledge in basic nursing assistant procedures and techniques under direction and supervision of a registered nurse. What you will do: Assists in providing direct patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse within the scope of the CNA licensure. Perform basic technical skills which may include, CPR; taking and recording vital signs; measuring and recording fluid intake/output; applying dressings; recognizing and reporting signs and symptoms of common diseases or conditions; administering treatments as directed by a physician or nurse. Assists patient with personal care which may include bathing; mouth and skin care; grooming and dressing; toileting assistance; eating and hydration. Provides patients with help walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed. Maintains unit supplies by stocking patient rooms and supply areas to meet patient care needs. Documents relevant patient care data. May provide clerical support to the unit, doing order entry, chart processing, answering telephones, etc. What you bring: Education Minimum of 1 year Preferred: experience in an acute care facility and Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs Credentials Required: Certified Nurse Assistant - Alaska Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support Required: Fingerprinting - State of Alaska Working Conditions Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH). Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures. Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts). Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally. Ability to move around area with frequent sitting. Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently. Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently. Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles. Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment. Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
