Consults with and obtains orders from an obstetrician for any special care or diagnostic procedure and refers to other services as necessary. Institutes preventative measures and detects abnormal conditions, obtains consultation and assistance from physicians as needed. Teaches, counsels and guides individual members regarding their individual health care. Determines the need for social services, genetics or mental health services and refers as appropriate. Evaluates patients general and obstetrical health status. Provides health supervision, care and family planning advice to women during antepartum and postpartum periods. Evaluates fetal status by performing such procedures as abdominal palpation and ultrasound examinations to estimate fetal weight, presentation and position, approximate station and fetal heart rate. Able to perform internal and external fetal monitoring and interpretation. Consults with obstetrician regarding questionable findings. Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions: Pay Range: $80.00 - $92.50 - $110.00 Essential Functions and Responsibilities: The CNM, in collaboration with the Hospitalists on the shift, will provide appropriate care within the scope of midwifery protocols to all of the OB patients in MarinHealth Medical Center. Overview Documentation of experience as defind by the CNM Allied Health Credentialing policy to include the care of a normal laboring patient and recognition of deviations from normal which require supervising physician consultation and/or management. Responsible for providing evidence of back-up supervision by an obstetrician fully credentialed at Parkview. Responsibilities CNM will attend Association of Women's Health Onstetric and Neonatal Nurses advanced fetal monitoring training every two years. The CNM will be credentialed through Medical staff, initial and on-going. Additionally the CNMs ar erequired to have experience and provide evidence that they have assisted in a minimum of 25 cesarian section surgical procedures prior to performing the role. CNMs must perform the first assistant role at minimum 10 times per year. Qualifications Must have current and valid California State RN license.
