Job Summary POSITION IS BONUS ELIGIBLE Responsible for rendering professional nursing services either directly or indirectly for a defined group of patients according to the hospital’s philosophy of patient care. Provide clinical leadership for other staff members and participate in the orientation of new personnel. Assume resource nurse responsibilities when necessary. Assume responsibility for own professional development setting goals and striving to achieve them through available resources such as attending seminars in-services and/or reading journals. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Requirements Graduation from an accredited nursing program and a minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required. RI State Licensure is also required. BSN or enrollment in a BSN program required for external candidates. Overview The Periop 101 Registered Nurse in the Operating Room has existing experience as a Registered Nurse but is new to the perioperative patient care environment. In some cases, a new graduate RN may be considered with relevant clinical exposure to the perioperative setting. The Periop 101 RN will participate in a structured, hybrid, instructor led Association of periOperative Registered Nurses Periop 101: A Core Curriculum course over a number of weeks. Education received is an investment and will take 9-12 months of training. It includes required reading and keeping notes in preparation for an exam to pass the course.
