Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Florida or endorsement. Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained. Depending on the assignment, responsibilities may include: Providing medication reminders Assisting with approved blood glucose monitoring Documenting readings when required Observing food and fluid intake Monitoring the client’s physical, emotional and behavioral condition Reporting pain, swelling, bruising, redness or skin concerns Reporting falls, injuries or changes in mobility Reporting confusion or unusual behavior Following established emergency procedures Contacting the Helping Hearts office immediately when concerns arise Completing accurate electronic documentation Caregivers must report concerns rather than independently diagnose or treat them. Medication Reminders Medication support is limited to the responsibilities authorized in the client’s approved non-medical care plan. Caregivers may: Provide scheduled reminders. Assist with an approved prefilled medication planner. Place approved medications in a cup when directed. Remind the client to self-administer their medication. Document reminders and client responses. Report refusals, missed doses or other concerns. Caregivers must not independently administer medication, change medication instructions or provide medical advice outside their authorized scope. Transportation When required and authorized, caregivers may: Transport clients to appointments. Assist with approved errands. Transport clients to social activities.
