A caregiver who excels in this role will: Assist with performing screenings and treatments by gathering and updating information related to health maintenance, identifying medication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performing tests and documenting patient care. Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition. Administer specific medications under the direction of the provider. Maintain equipment, medical supplies and examination areas. Perform administrative/clerical duties, such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an approved Medical Assisting program Military training as a hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience Current demonstrated clinical proficiency Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Medical Assisting certification (CMA, NCMA or CCMA) Successful completion of a Cleveland Clinic externship Physical Requirements: Manual dexterity to operate office equipment. May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting. Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision. Performs NIHSS and bedside swallow, assists with telemedicine consult and physician examination/evaluation of thrombolytic therapy inclusion/exclusion criteria, mixing, administration and monitoring of thrombolytic therapy if patient deemed a candidate, preparation of patient for Endovascular treatment as indicated, assumes patient care while in the Emergency Department. Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the NIHSS training and a minimum of 8 hours of stroke related training annually.
