About this Job: General Summary of Position Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Technician (PCT) the Nursing Assistant Apprentice performs delegated patient care activities in consideration with the developmental needs of each patient. Working alongside an RN CNA or PCT the Youth Apprentice participates in the delivery of age-appropriate patient care in a supportive learning environment. These activities may include simple specimen collection (e.g. urine) activities of daily living (ADLs) nutritional support patient mobility vital signs changing beds replenishing room supplies and assisting the healthcare team with specific treatments and/or procedures. The Apprentice in this position may perform all or a combination of the duties described depending upon the assigned work area and the specific needs of the patients and the department. These job functions must be completed under the supervision of an RN CNA or PCT.
