Job Summary The Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) functions within the Scope of Practice outlined by the Maryland Board of Nursing. The C.N.A assists the Registered Nurse and interdisciplinary team in the safe delivery of quality patient care, while supporting unit operations. Essential Functions: • In a team relationship with a registered nurse, and under the instruction, direction, and supervision of a nurse, the CNA shall: o Collect and record routine health data that is defined but not limited to cultural, religious and socioeconomic background and activities of daily living. o Orally report the health status data as required by the nurse. o Provide feedback to the nurse regarding the nurse-directed plan of care, which is being implemented. o Provide feedback to the nurse about the patient’s expressed wishes concerning the plan of care. • Provide assistance with activities of daily living as delegated by the nurse, including but not limited to: o Morning, evening, and general care to include bathing, mouth care, hair care, shaving, and skin care according to individual patient needs. o Repositioning patients to prevent skin breakdown. o Ensuring patients are out of bed and ambulated according to physician orders and RN direction. o Preparing for and assisting patients with meals, nourishments and beverages. • Perform interventions as delegated by a registered nurse, including but not limited to: o Hourly rounding to include the 4 P’s: Pain, Potty, Personal Needs; Possessions. o Blood glucose testing, vital signs, pulse oximetry, height, weight, SCD’s, indwelling urinary catheter removal, indwelling peripheral intravenous catheter removal, simple wound care to uncomplicated healing surgical wounds, and/or other equipment required by each department. • Record routine data and care provided on appropriate documents. • Identify the need for assistance and request assistance when the CAN is unsure about the condition; does not know how to do an activity; or is working in a new practice setting. • Report the patient’s response and the patient’s progress to the nurse at designated times and/or when there is a change in the patient’s condition. • Participation in: o Quality of care activities o Performance self-appraisal o Continued learning o Collaboration o Completion of appropriate delegated assignments. • Adhere to local, state and federal guidelines and regulations regarding client confidentiality and privacy rights. Direct all patient requests for information to the nurse. • Advocate for the patient by reporting to the nurse statements expressed by the patient or family regarding request for information; concerns about care; patient needs; and collaboration with other health care team members by reporting information and data regarding the patient in a timely, truthful and complete manner. • Reinforce the nurse’s health teaching in accordance with the facility, employer, and at the direction of the registered nurse’s written instruction. Report the patient’s response to teaching or requests for additional information. • Completes mandatory education requirement for the hospital and department. • Assists in orienting new employees to the department. • Stays informed of unit/hospital events by reading minutes or attending staff meetings. • Serves on committees and projects as necessary. • Comply with all local, state and federal guidelines and regulations governing Certified Nursing Assistant practice. • Comply with the C.N.A. code of ethics in accordance with COMAR 10.39.07; • Performs safely and competently all activities as assigned or delegated. • Keeps the department clean and orderly: kitchen, soiled utility room, clean utility room, etc. • Floats to other units as assigned. • Transports patients as needed. • Performs the duties of a patient care companion as assigned. What You’ll Do The Manager, Nursing provides oversight and instructions for on-site nursing to staff and young adults. The Manager, Nursing is expected to perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and core values of Newport Healthcare and comply with all policies and procedures, OSHA, HIPPA, local, state, and federal, regulations. Essential Duties: Act as liaison between nursing team and Medical Director/Director of psychiatry. Perform 2-4 clinical shifts monthly and fill in for nurses who take vacation/call out, as well as stepping in to perform clinical duties if team is short staffed. Completion of all compliance-related nursing documentation and treatment plans when indicated that RN may complete. Compile and distribute reports as required. Act as liaison with local pharmacies regarding any payment issues and communicate with admissions staff when issues arise. Phlebotomy when ordered by MD and communicate with Quest regarding pickup. About this Job: Pulmonary Sleep Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA)- MedStar Montgomery Medical Center Our advanced practice providers work collaboratively with physicians to provide integrated, high-quality care at all locations. As one of the largest medical groups in the country, MedStar Health APPs work with medical, surgical, and specialty providers to provide patient-centered care. We currently have a need for a Pulmonary Sleep Medicine APP. Position Summary The APP will be working with a team of 2 Physicians in this role. The role will involve a combination of both inpatient and outpatient care. A formal shadowing/training period of 3 to 6 months will be provided to providers without prior pulmonary experience Inpatient The APP will work alongside the attending physician on the pulmonary service at our community hospital. This involves: Evaluating patients on the pulmonary consult service. This involves doing initial history/physical consultations and follow-up progress notes. Establishing appropriate medical diagnoses, ordering tests, and recommending treatment. Collaborating with all involved care teams, including other consultants. Co-ordination of inpatient to outpatient pulmonary care. Assisting the attending physician with procedures such as chest ultrasound, thoracentesis, chest tube placement, pleuro-evac management, administration of intrapleural thrombolytics, bronchoscopy/EBUS, pleurX catheter management and teaching. Outpatient The outpatient clinic is conveniently located within the main hospital and operates Tuesday through Friday. The APP will work collaboratively with the attending physicians on duty while also managing a portion of their own patient visits independently. APP will be seeing new and follow-up patients. This involves doing initial history/physical consultations and follow-up office notes. APP will most commonly be managing patients with COPD, bronchiectasis, asthma, smoking cessation, lung nodules, lung cancer, lung cancer screening, ILD, pulmonary infections and pleural effusions. There will be focus of independently seeing patient for smoking cessation and lung cancer screening. APP will order outpatient testing which includes PFT, 6MWT, MCT and radiology. Outpatient procedures such as thoracentesis and lung biopsy are done with diagnostic radiology. Daily clinic responsibilities include answering messages from patients/other providers, coordination of care/appointments with clinic staff , medication refills, prior-authorizations, oxygen re-certifications etc. May assist with outpatient bronchoscopy procedures which are done in the OR. Wound and Skin Clinicians are experts in caring for patients with wounds, ostomies, and incontinence. Specifically, Wound and Skin Clinician nurses respond to the acute and rehabilitative needs of people with select gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems disorders. They provide direct care to people with abdominal stomas, wounds, fistulas, drains, pressure injuries, and/or continence disorders and can serve as educators, consultants, researchers, and administrators.
