The Cardiac Cath RN provides primary nursing support to the physician and patient to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient's condition. Provides patient education, promotes an understanding of the condition and adheres with the treatment plan. The Registered Clinic Nurse, functions in the spirit of teamwork, is accountable for the delivery of care utilizing skills learned in the clinic. Assists other team members on the unit. Hiring Incentive: $15,000 recruitment loan paid over 2 years. Certain stipulations do apply. This union position is 40 hours weekly; 8-hour shift position, Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. This role has On-Call for Level 1 Heart Attack Program (L1HAP): Rotation of 1-2 nights per week and every 3rd weekend. ** On-Call response time is 30 minutes for patients requiring acute heart attack care** RN experience with Telemetry, ED, and/or ICU experience is preferred, but not required. Job Duties: Triages patient sick calls to facilitate appropriate treatment plan with providers. Obtains and documents patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and provides basic medical data base for provider, and prepares patient for examinations. Oversees chart checks insuring that all patient completed testing is available for provider visit. Assists providers in procedures as directed by provider to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment. Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes associated paperwork to expedites laboratory studies with maximum accuracy and efficiency. Executes and documents ongoing patient communication. Provides instruction to ensure patient's understanding of medical condition and compliance with treatment instructions. Inserts, monitors, regulates and discontinues IV's as required by provider. Administers medications, IV push medications, and topical medications. Routinely inspects and observes condition and operations of diagnostic equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and identify need for preventative and corrective maintenance. May clean, sterilize and prepare instruments, according to established protocols, to ensure required level of aseposis and adequate availability. Cleans and sets up procedure rooms between cases, ensures required level of aseposis, availability of appropriate instruments and equipment, and preparation of patient. Educate patients on all aspects of medication and treatments as appropriate. Assists in all aspects of day -to- day clinic activity. 
Responsible and accountable for performing a wide range of direct patient care tasks. The performance of tasks allows the care team to provide quality care. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area. Provides patient care as directed by the registered nurse in meeting the multidisciplinary plan of care established for each patient. Obtains and maintains the integrity of specimens in accordance with policy, procedure, and physician order. Performs EKGs as assigned, following accepted practices, policies, procedures, and physician order. Provides for or assists patients with activities of daily living and fulfills designated and delegated responsibilities for ongoing continuum of care. Assists with transporting blood and blood products to and from Blood Bank as needed. Assists in problem solving and troubleshooting in the care and maintenance of equipment and assists in ensuring adequate supplies are available on the unit. Provides one to one patient safety watch as assigned following established policy and procedures. Completes clerical responsibilities for task completion based on ability and training. Staff have access to non-controlled medications storage and supply areas and can transport non-controlled medications as necessary to meet the needs of the clinic and unit. Serves as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students in a positive manner. Performs clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths according to standards and facilitates patient throughput activities. Transcribes and processes orders according to unit standard. Releases and confirms ordered tests to appropriate departments. Coordinate's transportation of patients to multiple tests. Participates in obtaining and communicating electronic information as pertinent to the nursing unit. Schedules tests, faxes consults, etc. Assists in ordering supplies. Stationery items as well as floor stock, patient needs, individual nursing supplies. Communicates with food services to ensure appropriate patient diets. Operates, problem solves, and takes corrective measures for clerical equipment. To include scheduling maintenance of computers, fax machines, phones, etc. Staff have access to non-controlled medications storage and supply areas and can transport non-controlled medications as necessary to meet the needs of the clinic or unit. Assists with transporting non-controlled medications to and from Pharmacy and within the unit as needed. Assists with transporting blood products to and from Blood Bank as needed.
