Overview At Illinois CancerCare, our Advanced Practice Providers (eligible if trained as Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Physician Assistant) play a vital role in providing expert oncology care and supporting patients and families throughout their cancer journey. Working collaboratively with our physicians, the APN conducts comprehensive assessments, develops and implements individualized care plans, performs clinical exams and procedures, and evaluates patient and family responses to treatment. This role includes interpreting laboratory and imaging results, prescribing therapies when appropriate, and managing symptoms and treatment‑related side effects using evidence‑based, compassionate interventions.
