Overview Department: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Location: East Liverpool, OH Shift: 12-Hour Night Shift Status: Non-Exempt The Registered Nurse (RN) – Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides safe, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients during a 12-hour night shift in East Liverpool, Ohio. This non-exempt role involves delivering direct patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The hospice aide works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various tasks as assigned in accordance with the patient’s plan of care to meet the patient's personal needs and to promote comfort. The hospice aide is responsible for reporting and documenting observations and care performed. The hospice aide will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity and safety of a patient's care. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities of the hospice aide include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Performing personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the Case Manager immediately. 2. Providing patient and family with positive communication techniques, within realm of ethical and respectful care, including confidentiality. 3. Meeting safety needs of patient and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2 etc.) 4. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Additional License RequirementsAnnual completion of a professional contribution selected from department, hospital or system gals, and approved by Unit Director AND either:UPMC approved nursing certification required within 1 year of hire/transfer and must be maintained.Certification not required if Master's in nursing or DNP is held.If a BSN is held, a Master's degree in a related field may be substituted in lieu of Certification.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. UPMC approved cert or Master’s/DNP required within 1 year of moving into position Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Registered Nurse (RN) UPMC Wolff Learning Academy Certificate of Completion Act 34 Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
