The RN will be responsible for patient assessment, preparation, monitoring, recovery, education, and coordination of care throughout the peri-procedural experience. *Performs pre-procedure assessments, obtain patient history, verify medications/allergies, and ensure informed consent and require documentation is complete. *Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures and establish IV access as appropriate. *Monitor patients before, and after procedures, including vital signs, cardiac rhythm, oxygen saturation, level of consciousness, and airway status. *Administer medications and moderate sedation according to physicians orders, facility policies, and nursing standards. *Recognize and respond promptly to complications or changes in patient condition. *Provide post-procedure recovery care and determine readiness for discharge according to established criteria. *Educate patients and families regarding procedure, medications, post-procedures care, dietary restrictions, warning signs and follow-up instructions. *Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the medical record. *Collaborate with gastroenterologists, anesthesia providers, surgical staff, technicians, and other members of the healthcare team. *Follow infection prevention, patient safety, medication safety, and endoscope reprocessing standards. *Provide compassionate, patient-centered care with maintaining a high level of professionalism and clinical judgement.
