We have 24 beds on the unit. We work together with the entire interdisciplinary team (MDs, NPs, NSTs, OT/PT, Speech, SW, etc) to deliver quality care. Patient assignment varies based on acuity, Med/Surg or IMC. Provides complex care to pediatric patient/families preparing for and undergoing blood and marrow transplantation, pediatric hematology-oncology, urology, blood and marrow, metabolic, and gastrointestinal disorders Performs advanced monitoring using current technology. Manages sophisticated medication and infusion therapies Cares for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit. Demonstrates ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment. Job Overview Fairview has an immediate opening for an RN at the Masonic Infusion specialty within the Advanced Treatment Center located at the Clinics and Surgery Center on the University of Minnesota East Bank Campus. Our Masonic Cancer Clinic is one of the nation’s top cancer research centers with a team of specialized doctors, nurses, researchers and health care professionals committed to providing life-saving care to people with cancer. People travel from across the country and around the world for treatments within our hospitals/clinics. Our team does high-impact work in the prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer. This position is approved for a 0.8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks) and consists of 8-hour shifts with start times between 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Rotating weekend coverage is required approximately every 10-12 weeks . This RN Infusion performs independent nursing interventions and implements prescribed plans of care. The independent nursing includes assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for assigned patient population(s) in the ambulatory care setting. Implementing plans of care include treatment and therapy plans, and other orders as prescribed within the clinic. It includes participation in and coordination of patient care with other health care team members. The RN Infusion is responsible for performing these functions while working in collaboration with providers and care team members. The RN infusion performs these functions in accordance with all policy, procedure, and professional practice guidelines. The RN Infusion delivers care that is sensitive to the unique needs of the ages served by the clinic. About This Position The Medical Assistant will manage the patient flow throughout the clinic and assist providers in the management and treatment of their patients. Patients come from a variety of backgrounds and various age groups requiring individualized care including infants, children, adolescents, adults, or geriatrics. The focus of the Medical Assistant is on collaborative, supportive and delegated tasks as described in the Blaze Health Medical Assistant scope of practice. Delegable tasks and competencies are specific to the role of the Supervising Nurse and Supervising Provider and are described by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. The Medical Assistant receives direction and collaborates with the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Manager, and Providers to meet the defined goals of the customer, shift, department and organization. Communication with the health care team related to progress, concerns, questions or problems that arise are an essential element of the Medical Assistant role. Unit based skills list outlines specific expectations including technical procedures with competency assessment/validation. Skill and competency validations will occur upon hire and on a schedule determined by Blaze Health based on the Blaze Health Mandatory Education, Training, Education, License, Registration, and Certification policy. Requirements Education High School graduate or equivalent (i.e. GED) required Graduate of a Medical Assistant program accredited by a recognized accrediting organization (i.e. Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools) with on the job experience and training OR Graduate of a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) program accredited by a national health services organization (i.e. American Medical Technologists) with on-the-job experience and training and passing the RMA certification exam. OR Six (6) months of previous Medical Assistant experience within the North Memorial Health system Experience Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred.
