Completes focused and ongoing assessments and documentation. Completed pain assessment—ongoing and after intervention. Documents readiness to learn, teaching, barriers and outcomes. Completes documentation accurately and in a timely manner, according to hospital policies and procedures. Engages in activities to expand and/or enhance the professional nursing role, which includes integration of research and evidence based practice. Expected to participate on committees, projects, as a preceptor and as charge when requested. Provides leadership and autonomy in the professional practice setting and the profession. Utilizes chain of command. Maintains calm manner during abrupt changes in acuity and/or unit activity. Recognizes own limitations and seeks assistance when necessary. Is flexible with scheduling when necessary. Delegates responsibilities to appropriate health care team members and monitors their activity and work performance. Provides patients with appropriate instructions for discharge care and documents accordingly—ensuring patients/family understanding. Participates in call backs.
