Our CVTU manages complex cases and patient populations including: Cardiogenic shock Advanced Heart Failure LVAD Heart Transplant Pulmonary Hypertension Post-Cardiac Arrest Post-Cath Lab Patients You will have the opportunity to be privileged in procedures such as arterial line, central line, dialysis catheter, and pulmonary artery catheter insertions and manage mechanical circulatory support devices such as IABPs and Impellas. The Adult Emergency Department consists of 55 patient care rooms including a rapid assessment unit, six trauma/resuscitation suites and separate rooms for infection isolation, care of immune compromised patients, and psychiatric consultations. Order and give all new medications and chart same when done using the EMR system. Direct charting in his/her shift and make monthly detailed evaluation of all resident charting so that charts reflect progress and condition of residents in the EMR system. Be responsible for well-being and nursing care of all residents assigned to his/her unit while on duty. Contact families regarding significant decline in resident's status or transfer to hospital documenting contact in the EMR. Make rounds and observe individual residents who are experiencing episodes of acute illness, deterioration in health status, recent injury, recovering from surgery, etc., so as to be acquainted with the resident's status, both physically and emotionally and to ascertain that the staff is rendering proper care. At all times abide by policies of the facility and ascertain that employees under his/her supervision do the same. Supervise serving of prescribed diets and fluid intake (it is acceptable to document only deviations from normal) and report persistent unresolved problems to the DON. Ensure that all medications and treatments are charted by the person administering the medication or completing the treatment on his/her assigned shift (EMR system). Prepare incident/accident reports, events and observations using the EMR system. Ensure that a copy of the medical records or an abstract of them are forwarded with the transfer of residents to a hospital or other health care facility. Detect and correct situations that have a high probability of causing accidents or injuries to residents and/or staff. Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and free of hazardous conditions, i.e. spills, excess carts, etc. and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored while working, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and end of the work day. Assure that established infection control and universal precaution practices are maintained when performing nursing procedures. Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies. Report all equipment malfunctions and breakdowns to the ADON as soon as possible and keep the ADON informed of supply needs and equipment needing replacement. Maintain the confidentiality of resident information and honor his/her personal and property rights. Attend nursing department, Care Plan, and other meetings as directed by the DON or ADON. Join the University of Chicago Medicine as an Advanced Practice Provider for Inpatient Hematology/Oncology Night Advanced Practice Provider Team. Sign on Bonus Up to $10,000.00 and Relocation Package Available As an Advanced Practice Provider, you are responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management in the hospital setting, you will play a critical role in delivering comprehensive, evidence-based care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced academic medical center environment. The night shift Advanced Practice Provider covers three inpatient services: Inpatient Leukemia, Inpatient Cellular Therapy, and Inpatient Chemotherapy . These services are all APP-staffed services which each have the support of a Hematology/Oncology Fellow and Hematology/Oncology Attending. After an orientation period on both days and nights, the APP will work independently and autonomously on the Inpatient Hematology/Oncology Night APP Team. At night, the APP will be responsible for managing established inpatients and admitting patients appropriate for the services. The APP will be trained to manage oncologic emergencies such as neutropenic fever, tumor lysis syndrome, and cytokine release syndrome. The APP will always have the fellow and attending as resources, although they will not be in house at night. Optimal staffing at night is 2-3 APPs covering all three services per night. The APP manages a caseload of patients and exercises autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. The scope of practice also includes family support, teaching, staff education, consultation, and research. APP: Provide comprehensive care to patients in the inpatient settings cared for by the APPs of the cardiac and vascular surgery ICU and stepdown units. Initiates referrals based on patient and family need. Accurately presents and documents the database, impression and plan of care. Promotes, has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocol relating to the physical, psychosocial and developmental needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Maintains formal and informal systems for information sharing, planning and problem solving with unit staff, other NP’s, medical staff and other nursing and hospital personnel. The Wound Care RN assesses the skin of patients in the facility, monitors the status of wounds, implements specialized dressing change recommendations based on physician orders and clinical expertise, implements offloading and HAPI prevention orders, adapts to changing policy and procedures according to corporate policy. The Wound Care RN provides ongoing evidence based on relevant education to all facility bedside staff related to HAPI prevention, dressing changes, and care of skin. The Wound Care RN will establish and maintain monthly wound care committee meetings which will include relevant participants from their facility. The wound care RN will collaborate respectfully with all departments to create effective wound care practices based on evidence based best practice guidelines and corporate policies. Communicate with physicians / charge nurse / co – workers, as appropriate regarding changes in the patient’s treatment, clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies.
