Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Nurse Manager of the Operating Room position is to operationalize the care delivery system in the Operating Room through the skillful directing, coaching, support, and delegation to staff in the provision of clinically and fiscally sound care and services to achieve patient/family goals, efficiency, and safety. Overview About the Role Participates as an essential member of the healthcare team by providing clinical lactation therapy for patients. Provides education and consultative services related to breastfeeding. Serves as a resource for physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers in order to promote optimal patient care. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY The purpose of this position is to support the Nurse Manager to ensure standards of professional practice are developed and maintained to achieve excellence and continuity in resident care. The Assistant Nurse Manager will be responsible for working in a collaborative manner with the Nurse Manager to direct and organize the nursing care for their assigned neighborhoods. The Assistant Nurse Manager will support the leadership, direction, and supervision of nursing staff, including RNs/LPNs, CNAs and Companions. This includes working in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and the neighborhood staff to balance schedules and maintain staffing levels that are consistent with resident needs, including needs as defined by their Plan of Care, activity and daily schedules, outside and in-house clinic visits, and school programs. The Assistant Nurse Manager will also review and/or modify staff assignments as necessary to ensure quality resident care. In addition, the Assistant Nurse Manager will participate in the hiring, interviewing and onboarding process, as well as periodic evaluation of staff that are assigned to their floor. Evaluations include annual performance reviews as well as interim coaching, counseling and progressive disciplines that may be required. The Assistant Nurse Manager will be responsible for working an on-site schedule of at least 4 days per week a that includes providing evening supervisory coverage and reporting off daily concerns and significant changes in resident condition to the night supervisors. The Assistant Nurse Manager will be included in a Nursing Leadership weekend rotation to ensure continuity of systems and protocols are maintained through the entire week. The Assistant Nurse Manager will demonstrate a commitment to the continuum of care for our residents, through participating in and promoting nursing practice while in the Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center and through follow up with collaborating hospitals in the case of transfers for escalations in care. The OR Technician I performs various duties to assist with surgical procedures and related operating room activities. The OR Technician I delivers care as reflected in the Association of Surgical Technologists’ Recommended Standards of Practice in a manner that is cost effective without compromising quality of care. The OR Technician I possesses knowledge of the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tolls and technologist to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. The OR Technician I demonstrates competency to scrub for minor/major surgical and endoscopic surgical procedures. An Operating Room Technician I is a certified technician. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Nurse Anesthetist (Certified Registered) position is to administeranesthesia and anesthesia-related care in four general categories: (1) pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation; (2) anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence; (3) post-anesthesia care; and (4) perianesthetic and clinical support functions. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Education Program with a Master’s Degree in a related field; or graduation from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education programs prior to January 1998 is required. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Nurse Anesthetist (Certified Registered) position is to administer anesthesia and anesthesia-related care in four general categories: (1) pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation; (2) anesthesia induction, maintenance and emergence; (3) post-anesthesia care; and (4) perianesthetic and clinical support functions. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse position is to skillfully administer total patient care in accordance with Emergency Nursing Standards of Practice, provides leadership and clinical expertise in the assessing, planning and delivery of emergency care. Provides specialized primary nursing care for acutely ill and injured trauma cases in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures. Make two hourly checks on incontinent residents and wash and change as necessary. Encourages self-help measures as appropriate so that each child may reach his/her appropriate level of independence. Check and record urine and bowel movements. Ensure that assigned residents are appropriately prepared for school, clinic, recreation and hospital visits as scheduled and accompany/transport them as assigned. Ensure that bedfast residents are repositioned as directed by NCC but not less than two repositions per resident hourly. Performs restorative and rehabilitative activities as instructed and as directed by Plan of Care. Assists in applying safety restraints to residents when directed; Monitors residents in restraints, release restraints and documents according to policy and procedure Ensures that each resident who can use a call bell has one within reach and remind him/her to use it. Assists co-workers with lifting, positioning and other procedures as necessary. Be aware of facility policy on child abuse and/or neglect and promptly report any instances of abusive or inappropriate behaviors towards any resident to the NCC. Knows and follows The Center policy and procedure with regard to infection control including hand washing and types of isolation. Keep resident care area clean and free of clutter. Report any unsafe conditions immediately to NCC. Properly stores and safeguard residents’ clothing and reports too many or too few clothing and or toys to NCC. Feeds residents or teaches residents to feed themselves as appropriate.
