Registered Nurse Float Pool Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) – Float Pool provides professional nursing care to patients across multiple inpatient clinical areas based on organizational staffing needs. Float Pool RNs serve as a flexible clinical resource, supporting patient care while maintaining continuity, quality outcomes, and exceptional customer service. Registered Nurse Float Pool Key Responsibilities: Provides direct patient care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Accepts assignments in designated clinical areas based on demonstrated competency and current staffing needs. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care. Documents patient care accurately and timely within the electronic medical record. Maintains patient safety and adheres to infection prevention, regulatory, and organizational standards. Demonstrates flexibility by transitioning between assigned units while maintaining high-quality patient care. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and department-based education. Registered Nurse Float Pool Experience and Education Qualifications: Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Licensure Current Connecticut Registered Nurse license or holds a multi-state Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). Current BLS certification required for the Float Pool role. Current ACLS certification required for the Float Pool role. Additional specialty certifications are required when applicable to the assigned unit or clinical area. Experience Minimum of two-three (2-3) years of recent acute care nursing experience required. Experience in Medical-Surgical nursing required. Approved Float Assignments: Float Pool RNs may be assigned to the following units following successful completion of orientation and competency validation.
