Full time, Monday through Friday 8-5pm working at our GI location, Horseshoe Pond Concord NH and able to cover our Laconia practice as well when needed which is rare but required. Responsibilities include rooming patients, chart preparation, medication refills & medication prior authorizations. Summary Reporting to practice leadership and under the direction of the providers, assists in the examination and treatment of patients and has basic skills in treatments and procedures. In addition, may be involved in other areas of medical office support including clerical, environmental and organizational . Education Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program preferred but will accept applicants with healthcare experience (formal medical training program, EMT, LNA, Military Medics, Technicians, etc.). Certification, Registration & Licensure Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification or Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers. Medical Assistants are encouraged to obtain certification or registration within the first three years of employment. Experience With completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, no experience is required. For other candidates at least 1 year of healthcare experience preferred. Responsibilities Follows guidelines and prescribed format for answering the phone and identifies patient's health problem or concern and directs calls per practice guidelines. Interviews patients and measures vital signs. Updates patient's medications and allergy lists. Records information in the EMR. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients, including stocking and cleaning. Assists provider by preparing patients for physical examinations and by assisting with procedures. Demonstrates clinical skill in practice. Schedules patient appointments and orders referral per practice specific guidelines. Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials for assigned area of responsibility, removes outdated materials and ensures proper labeling. Uses software (Cerner, GroupWise, etc.) following established protocols for documentation, responding to requests, and initiating appropriate tests and orders. Greets patients and escorts them to exam room. Cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization. Performs job specific requirements and other duties as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Performs general administrative duties in accordance with JCAHO, CLIA, NCQA and government standards, as well as company policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Performs visit chart preparation activities based on the daily scheduled appointments including diagnostic test results, emergency/urgent care reports, discharge summaries and consult/PCP reports are located in the medical record and accessible to the provider. Performs rooming activities for provider visits according to the documented rooming criteria including chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, medication list review, tobacco history, LMP, health maintenance overrides and documentation in a timely and accurate manner. Obtains and documents age and/or condition-specific measurements accurately including vital signs, height, weight, head circumference, peak flow, and pulse oximetry. Conducts and documents hearing, vision, respiratory and ECG testing. Performs and documents specific screening based on condition/need including depression and asthma. Obtains, documents and processes specimens using the appropriate collection process and equipment. Performs and documents point of care testing accurately. Performs venipuncture procedures (as needed) and processes specimens as outlined in policies and procedures. Administers medications and immunizations including oral, nasal, injectable, rectal and topical routes as appropriate. Processes medication prescription refills per guidelines using telephonic, electronic or print methods. Handles prior authorization processes for medications and/or procedures and documents appropriately. Manages clinical supplies and medication sample areas to ensure that stock is current, stored appropriately, labeled and par levels maintained. Education/Experience/Licensure MA I Education: HS Diploma or GED required and One of the following: Graduate from an accredited MA Program. Graduate from an MA Training Program with externship. 1 year of relevant healthcare experience with formal training (LNA, EMT, Combat Medic). 1 year prior experience as a Medical Assistant. Experience: 1 year of relevant healthcare exp. (can include externship), 1 -2 years exp. in a clinical ambulatory care setting preferred. Summary The Employee Health Registered Nurse (RN) provides services designed to evaluate, promote and support the health and safety of Concord Hospital staff (employees, volunteers, medical staff, students, contractors, and other populations). The Employee Health Registered Nurse (RN) reports directly to the Nurse Manager. The Employee Health Medical Director provides guidance and authorizes medical orders and protocols for the Employee Health Program. Services include: Post-offer health screens, immunity screening and vaccination, infectious disease screening, detection and prevention, employee illness and injury services, medical surveillance, health and wellness services and promotion of a safe work environment.
