Using these imaging tests, medical professionals are able to see inside a patient’s body, enabling them to easily diagnose illnesses and suspected injuries. A radiology nurse works as a member of a larger team of medical professionals, including physicians, specialists, other nurses, and radiology technicians. As radiology nurses work in conjunction with other healthcare professionals, being able to effectively communicate is essential. With the amount of collaboration between other medical professionals and a high turnover in patients, one must be easily adaptable. A radiology nurse is primarily responsible for the assessment, planning, and care of patients who undergo diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The primary role of a radiology nurse is to care for patients in need of radiology procedures. PURPOSE AND SCOPE: The professional registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 1 is an entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). This position is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation for an assigned group of patients. This may include delegation of appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff including but not limited to RNs, LVN/LPNs and Patient Care Technicians. As a member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) health care team, this position participates in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations.
